Keeping It Quiet from Chan Ghee Leow on Vimeo.
It's finished! Finally!
It took a while to get started on the polishing after leaving it for a couple of months after the competition. I took as much as I could from the Critique without altering the original intention of the animation. Even so, about 90% of the animation had to be redrawn to accommodate even the most subtle changes. The changes may not be apparent, but I feel this definitely has a better flow in the animation than the first one.
I'm now ready to start on another piece. The track will be from the December competition of the 11 Second Club. I love that track!! I was too busy at that time to enter, so I will now pursue this in my own time. The goal is to have this conceived in 3D. I'm re-learning a lot of the things in Maya at the moment. I'm tired of missing out on job opportunities because of my handicap in 3D.
The backstory of the December soundtrack has already been explored and thought out, so I'm really excited to get things started. I shall document the progress of this little project here as often as I'm able.

Awesome! I remember seeing this on 11 second club. Great work. What did you use to shoot your animation? It's got a great look to it.
I'm looking forward to your next one.
Thanks. I used Photoshop for the animation. The frames were then compiled and rendered in Flipbook. The rendered scenes were finally brought into After Effects for final adjustments.
photoshop?? you drew in photoshop? not on papers?
great animation and character!
keep on posting!
Hahaha...yeah...I was just testing it out to see if I could do it there. It saves me having to scan the frames in and also allows a little more room for tweaks and exploration. I did the thumbnails and the first pass of the key drawings on paper though. The main drawback about doing it in Photoshop is that I cannot flip the drawings properly to see if the animation flows.
Wow...congratz Chan Ghee...
It's amazing...great animation...
I'm ur student...long long time ago... I admire ur spirit, talent and skills very much.
Accidentally found this blog and so nice to see ur work again.
Looking forward for ur next animation!!
all da best to u! ^^
waw, the ending is way more compelling now, he actually made me a bit scared with that final look on his face
(i'm looking at the eCritique now)
the only thing still bothering me a bit (puts me out of the moment) is the big movement when he says 'gift'. I find it a bit too big with this timing.
(just a thought, feel free to ignore)
it always amazes me how subjective and organic animation is,
opinions about animation quality differ very much i find, from person to person
i'll be checking your blog out some more in the future
peace
Wally
